You could be forgiven for expecting it will be 'chronically painful' for
you to read and consider what follows. But my hope is that it isn't too
unbearable to read about the different aspects of chronic pain affecting
millions of us.

We call him Sammy

Millions of people have one.  So do we now. The more complex our lives become, the more significant it is to care for a life that would not last long in the great outdoors. There is a mystery in giving ourselves to the well-being and loving care of our very young budgie.

Okay, so he is one of billions flying over the planet. What is one among billions? Well, just this...he's ours. He doesn't take away our chronic pain nor sort out our future, not even for half an hour.  But with a shift of our attention from ourselves to his care and well-being, we shift our thinking from ourselves to the needs and antics of a little life who hasn't got a clue about our stuff. In so doing, he rewards us with genuine joy by just being himself. There is a discernible improvement in our resilience of mind and body in being accepted just as I am. Especially so when it comes from our little bird. A mystery that's priceless.

Well self, are you coming?
