Not The Commodore!

Yes and not just any Commodore - MY Commodore! There it was, nicely parked inside the designated lanes of our church car park, only to be side-swiped by another driver who  misjudged his parking skills. On one hand I was grateful he left his name and phone number. On the other hand I felt very offended the driver hit my car. Not a brand new one but one we have looked after over the years. I've learnt over time that something doesn't have to be new to have serious worth to its owner.

Not long ago a fellow walked by at the fuel bowser and said, "What  a lovely car!" And it is as far as I'm concerned. HOWEVER...that's all it is-a lovely car. I'm old enough now to know cars are an expensive, mostly comfortable means of getting us from one place to another. So while we own our precious Commodore, we will look after it as best we can. But we won't worship it. Cars must be near the top of the list of good servants but terrible masters-if we let them become that. I'll just have to remember what I've written here the next time my beloved Commodore is scratched.
