Kindness Is Good Therapy

Kindness is good therapy. What makes it good therapy is that it works. It works for the one receiving it and it works for the one offering it. Every time I offer kindness, I'm reminding myself it's not all about me. In the present circumstances of Corona Virus, kindness is rapidly being recognised as the gift that is a force for good. It's healthy and almost always recognised for what it is.

A personal ''for instance'. The other day I called one of our family to see how they were going. It didn't take long to hear they are all okay and have what they need. From there the conversation quickly turned into an in-depth enquiry into our health and what food etc we needed. I was gently yet strongly reminded we are in the 'vulnerable age group' and must be careful about everything.

Two important things happened in that conversation. First, we knew we weren't forgotten and someone really wanted to know how we are going. I felt reassured that our shopping would be taken care of if we couldn't manage it. That put us in a safe place. Second, the one offering us kindness knew it was the right thing to do. That satisfied her desire to care for us. Her loving care was directed to people other than herself. The result is blessing and encouragement all round. As I said it's good therapy. But don't take my word for it.
