A Chronically Painful Blog

But Wait There's More

These 4 words were made famous from an old TV commercial. For those of us with chronic conditions, there is always more - always more. The eye surgeon re-enforced this true-ism at my last visit. After talking about my glaucoma, he said "and..." That's when I found out about a cataract. And I remembered "but wait there's more."

On our way home, the thought roiled around in my mind, "I am really weary of hearing those 4 words. It's that Ghost and The Darkness thing once again. Troubling 'what if' thoughts sliding silently into my mind, usually at night, I might add. What else is going to happen to make my world smaller than it is already? Which is a dumb thing to do really. Especially when I can hardly see as it is, let alone squint into the future! In my case, these thoughts are a painful reminder that I haven't asked God to padlock the main gates of my mind against the dreadful power of the Ghost and the Darkness. I am so grateful these 2 lions are not all powerful, yet they continuously check to see if that padlock is in place. The best I can do on the day with what I've got. And if necessary, make that half a day.
