A Chronically Painful Blog

As Soon As You Can Please

I've recently been going on about stuff people with chronic pain have to deal with. Stuff like frustration and patience. In my world, frustration is in plentiful supply. Patience is not quite so plentiful. Today I had significant skin cancers surgically removed. A nagging worry but not a new thing. After a few hours, the anaesthetic wore off. So, being a good patient, I lay down to ease my new stitches. In a second our new neighbour began drumming practice. It dawned on me our friendly new neighbour is a drummer! And his un-soundproofed practice room is right under our bedroom window.

I said, "Dear God grant me the patience to cope with this and as soon as You can please would be really good!" Thinking about it, the more often I checked my watch, the longer the drumming continued. Besides, God isn't into short-cuts as far as I know and He's probably having a chuckle at how I'm dealing with my patience or my lack of it. Some life-lessons take longer to learn, don't they?
