About Computers And Resilience

I have a good excuse for the delay in adding to this blog. It's a sad fact I never really know how resilient I am until I am confronted with some form of threat or frustration, often unexpected. Who needs resilience when all is going wonderfully well?

Last week and for no obvious reason, we lost our wifi connection again. And after many hours of texts between my wife and a technician, it was still lost. It was just as well my wife was dealing with this as she has far more patience than I will ever have. 'Incandescent' best describes my state of mind come end of this marathon. Someone further up the provider food chain phoned that night and promised an NBN technician to come the next day. He replaced the NBN unit and said the modem had passed away. Of course it had!! A new modem arrived 3 days later and it works! But my expectations of computers and related gear are not that high.

I knew my resilience reserves were not overflowing but the computer saga showed me how vulnerable I am to 'Not Again!' moments. As health issues develop there will be more of them, more often. Resilience is not some Star Wars Force I can squeeze out of my mind when needed. It's a divine gift intended, not only for my well-being but also for folk in as much need of resilience as I am.
